Northwest Reno’s Robb Drive: New Coffee and Bagel Shops

Three things happened on Robb Drive in about four weeks. Einstein Bros. Bagels opened a Northwest Reno bakery with a patio. The Northwest Reno Library reopened on September 21 after more than four months of construction. And in mid-September, The Roost opened its first coffee bar with its own storefront and seating.

All three are places you can stay. Put their hours side by side and they cover a weekday from 6 a.m. into the evening. They cover most of a Saturday, too.

The Roost's Third Location Is Its First With Chairs

The Roost's history shows why the Robb Drive shop matters. Owner April Clark opened the first location in March 2017 as a drive-thru on Booth Street. The second opened in 2021 inside Reno Orthopedic Center. The third opened in mid-September at 1675 Robb Drive, next to Casa Grande. Gabby Clark, April's daughter and now a co-owner, told the Reno News & Review this is the location with its own storefront and seating.

The space also lets the Clarks roast their own beans. Coffee from Guatemala, Costa Rica and Brazil will go into The Roost's espresso, house and decaf blends. The team plans to add other origins over time and spotlight a new one each month. Once that plan is running, regulars at the Robb Drive shop will see a rotating single-origin option.

The food comes from other local businesses. Bagels and muffins are from My Favorite Muffin. Lunch wraps and donuts are from Mother of Macros. Pastries come from Beloved's Bread. So one counter on Robb Drive now carries work from four Reno-area food businesses. The Roost posts updates on Instagram at @theroostcoffee.

A 6 a.m. Patio at 1650 Robb Drive

Einstein Bros. Bagels opened at 1650 Robb Drive, Suite B1. The Northern Nevada Business Weekly reported it open on September 24, after the Reno Gazette-Journal said in mid-August that an opening was close. It's open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Its NNBW announcement mentioned patio seating only for the Northwest Reno store. A sister location opened at the same time at 3849 S. Carson St. in Carson City.

Opening at 6 a.m. moves the street's day earlier. Before this fall, the corridor's newest sit-down treat was Little Truckee Ice Creamery, whose Robb Drive shop opened on August 7, 2025. Within about a year, the street added bagels at dawn, coffee by mid-morning and ice cream later in the day.

Einstein also offers catering for corporate functions, special events and group gatherings. That's useful if you need breakfast for a meeting room in the area.

The Library at 2325 Robb Drive Has Reopened

The Northwest Reno Library closed May 6 so Washoe County Library could replace its heating and cooling system and retrofit the roof. It reopened Monday, September 21. It's back on its regular schedule: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, until 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.

The reopening came with a new program. The Yiddish Book Group first met on September 23 to discuss Sholem Aleichem's "Tevye the Dairyman." It's part of the Yiddish Book Center's Public Libraries Program, which provides translated Yiddish literature to participating libraries. The next day, the San Francisco Yiddish Combo, led by cellist Rebecca Roudman, gave an introduction to klezmer music at the branch.

Here's what remains on the branch calendar this fall:

Program When Remaining dates
Thursdays of Terror! Thursdays, 4 p.m. October only, including Oct. 8, 15 and 22
Yiddish Book Group Select Wednesdays, 5 p.m. Oct. 7, Oct. 28, Nov. 18
SaturYay! Saturdays, 11 a.m. October and November
Pardon the Pawn Saturdays, 2 p.m. October and November
Sunday Funday Sundays, 11 a.m. October and November

Thursdays of Terror! is not on the November calendar, so it ends with Halloween season. The Yiddish Book Group always meets on a Wednesday, the one evening the branch stays open until 7 p.m.

How the Hours Line Up

Put the new openings next to the library schedule and Robb Drive can fill a day.

On a weekday, Einstein opens at 6 a.m., four hours before the library. Einstein closes at 2 p.m., and the library stays open until 6 p.m. On October Thursdays, Thursdays of Terror! starts at 4 p.m., after Einstein has closed for the day.

On a Saturday, the library calendar has SaturYay! at 11 a.m. and Pardon the Pawn at 2 p.m., and Einstein serves until 2 p.m. Between those programs you can get bagels on the patio at 1650 Robb Drive, then coffee roasted in-house at 1675.

On October 7 and October 28, the Yiddish Book Group meets at 5 p.m. Those meetings fall on Wednesdays, the night the library has its latest hours.

None of these schedules came from one plan. The Roost's hours weren't published in the coverage we reviewed, so check its Instagram before you go. The library's published calendar and Einstein's stated hours are enough to show the overlap. This fall, Robb Drive has a full day of sit-down options.

Announced but Not Yet Open

Two more Northwest Reno openings were announced in August. Neither announcement included an opening date.

  • Nothing Bundt Cakes announced a bakery at 5150 Mae Anne Ave., inside the Ridgeview shopping center. The Reno Gazette-Journal reported the plan on August 12 without an opening date.
  • Dutch Bros plans a Northwest Reno location, based on a building permit application filed with the city. The RGJ reported it on August 20, and that report didn't include an address or timeline.

Until either one opens, both are plans.

Getting There While I-80 Work Wraps Up

If you come to Robb Drive from the interstate, NDOT's I-80 West Reno Improvements between West McCarran Boulevard and Keystone Avenue are still active. NDOT says interstate paving was substantially complete in summer 2026, with finishing work continuing through the end of the year.

In the work zone, lanes are narrowed and shifted around the clock, and the speed limit is 55 mph. The West McCarran Boulevard and Keystone Avenue ramps to I-80 can close intermittently from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday evenings through Friday mornings. McCarran Boulevard itself can lose lanes overnight between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Those overnight hours rarely affect a morning coffee run, but an early Einstein trip could catch the tail of a closure before 5 or 6 a.m. NDOT notes the schedule depends on weather and can change.

The Northwest Reno Library is at 2325 Robb Drive, The Roost is at 1675 and Einstein Bros. is at 1650 Suite B1.
